Last week I decided to go up there for a few days…
Wow.
It’s a BIG place! 90,000 plus acres.
If you don’t know where it is, it’s in the NE part of the state south of Duluth/Superior.
I was there for 3 1/2 days and saw 6 people or so.
Do you want to:
Hike? Miles and miles of multi-use roads/trails, paths whatever.
Atv? Oh yes. Lots of miles there and even connection to Wisconsin trails.
Want to let your inner rally driver out and go someplace OTHER than the pavement?
FOREST ROADS broheimers!
Miles of them even!
Gravel bordered by TREES annnd grass and NATURE.
Check.
A million places to camp? Check.
I really couldn’t see why people couldn’t erect some natural shelters and have a great time.
I saw a few of the biggest deer I’ve ever seen.
Water features? Yup.
Water all over the place.
Even a bog.
I was told there was a lake, but some somehow it managed to elude me.
(I’m directionally challenged when off of pavement, so for me, it’s a push.)
I’ll find it eventually.
There aren’t any toilets or facilities duh.
(Just making sure I didn’t forget to mention it.)
So bring your own water, or be prepared to filter what you need.
Overall, I had a great time and would highly recommend going there.
